History

Company history
1. The first national postal administration in Croatia was founded in 1848 in Zagreb under the name Supreme Croatian-Slavonian Postal Administration.
2. In 1919, the national postal administration changed its name to the Croatian Directorate of Posts, Telegraphs and Telephones.
3. From the Second World War until 1990, it was called PTT-promet RH.
4. In 1990, the Parliament of the Republic of Croatia founded the public company Croatian Post and Telecommunications (HPT) as the legal successor of the former 13 companies of PTT-promet of the Republic of Croatia.
5. Since 1999, with the separation of HPT into HT - Hrvatske telekomunikacije d.d. and HP - Hrvatska pošta d.d., Croatian Post operates as an independent joint-stock company.
6. Liberalization of the postal services market was introduced on January 1, 2011, and Croatian Post was designated as a universal service provider under the Postal Services Act. Based on this Act, Croatian Post has the right and obligation to provide this service for the next 15 years.
7. With the laying of the foundation stone for the New Sorting Center on May 16, 2017, the largest strategic and capital investment of Croatian Post in its history began. In the summer of 2019, the New Sorting Center of Croatian Post started operating. The New Sorting Center was officially opened on September 23, 2019.
8. In order to make services even more accessible to users, the installation of a network of 300 parcel lockers throughout the country was completed at the beginning of 2023.
