Croatian Post joined the Science Based Targets initiativeSignatories to the initiative undertake to set science-based goals in order to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in accordance with the Paris Agreement.

Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) is an international organization helping companies set ambitious goals for reducing greenhouse gas emissions which are in accordance with the goals of the Paris Agreement. Croatian Post has signed the initiative by which it is obliged to set short-term goals for halving gas emissions by 2030 and achieving zero greenhouse gas emissions before 2050.

For reference, in June 2016 the Republic of Croatia signed the Paris Agreement which aims to limit global warming temperature to 2°C compared to the pre-industrial level and reduce greenhouse gas emissions in order to reduce the temperature increase to 1.5°C.
The Science Based Targets initiative brings together more than 4,000 companies around the world that share the same goal – to reduce the impact of global warming which can seriously impact the environment and society. This initiative originated as a result of cooperation between CDP, United Nations Global Compact, World Resources Institute (WRI) and World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF).

Croatian Post has recognized the necessity of changes that are crucial in the postal and logistics sector. By implementing sustainable green policies, the Croatian Post responds to crucial challenges and reduces its adverse effect on the environment. With the aim of transforming its business, the Croatian Post has electrified its vehicle fleet which currently consists of 20% of green vehicles and an adequate number of charging stations. Moreover, our sorting centers are built according to the latest standards as a way of achieving significant electricity savings and all will be equipped with solar panels.

A network of parcel lockers, the latest green delivery channel, stands out for its vital role in reducing adverse effects on the environment. Parcel lockers, located in more than 200 frequent locations all over Croatia, increase the percentage of deliveries in the first attempt, and delivery vehicles have fewer locations to visit, thus reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
